Anathema - The Optimist - I do appreciate that they evolve with each album.
Archspire - Relentless Mutation - Tech death with a neoclassical twist.
Asira - Efference - Debut album from this hipster black metal band. Lots of potential!
Barock Project - Detachment - A great new old prog reminiscent of Frost* & Spock's Beard.
Big Big Train - Grimspound - More old man prog with great star power behind it.
Caligula's Horse - In Contact - Aussie prog metal band with some djent and tool vibes.
Cellar Darling - This is the Sound - Poppy folk symphonic metal.

Descartes A Kant - Victims of Love Propaganda - DAFUQ DIS
Dodecahedron - kwintessens - Uncomfortable nasty avant black metal.
Dreadnought - A Wake in the Sacred Waves - Proggy doom from Colorado.
Dream Evil - SIX - Put on your armor and ride into the night to slay the dragon.
Elder - Reflections of a Floating World - Tooly McMastodon stoner.
Enslaved - E - New keyboardist/clean vocalist sounds just like the last guy.

Ex Eye - s/t - Experimental saxamophonist Colin Stetson with this avant metal album.
Exist - So True, So Bound - So Good.
Fen - Winter - Proggy black metal kind of like Enslaved and Opeth. Epic.

Mutoid Man - War Moans - Strong follow up to the excellent Bleeder.
Myrkur - Mareridt - More folk than black metal this time around.
Ne Obliviscaris - Urn - Damn, was really hoping this one would have been mindblasting.
Nine Treasures - Wisdom Eyes - Asian folk metal.
Origin - Unparalleled Universe - That opening riff is like a machine gun to the face.
Perihelion Ship - To Paint a Bird of Fire - Classic prog, psych, black metal and stoner.
Pyrrhon - What Passes for Survival - Chaotic and uncomfortable math death.
Satyricon - Deep Calleth Upon Deep - OG black metal. Title track is sick.
Sons of Apollo - Psychotic Symphony - Good old predictable Portnoy and Sherinian.
Steven Wilson - To the Bone - dude's poppier side.
Syn Ze Sase Tri - Zaul Mos - Symphonic metal with a Dimmu Borgir vibe.
The Faceless - In Becoming a Ghost - So much drama with this band!
The Stranger - s/t - This Aussia prog band has so much potential.

Wode - Servants of the Countercosmos - Black metal.
Zeal & Ardor - Devil is Fine - Technically a 2016 release so I guess I can't count it.
