The Junius Album Trilogy

Junius - The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist
Junius - Reports From the Threshold of Death
Junius - Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light

I've never heard of post rock/metal outfit Junius until they dropped their latest album. It ends their trilogy of albums, starting with The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist, continuing with Reports from the Threshold of Death, and ending with Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light.

The albums are all about life, near death, death, etc. I listened to all three of these albums in sequence, hearing them all for the first time. I gotta say that although I did enjoy the albums, I'm not sure this particular brand of post rock is for me. It's a little more on the lighter and emo side for my tastes. At times they remind me of the Deftones, Coldplay, Katatonia, and one of those 80s alternative bands like Depeche Mode or something.

They strike me as a band that would sound a lot better and heavier in a live setting. If for some crazy reason they decided to play this entire trilogy in its entirety, I would be very very interested in witnessing such a feat. With a total runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes, it might be a bit much for the band and for the fans to sit through.

If post-anything interests you, be sure to check this out.
