Bell Biv DeVoe, BBD, ABC, 123, I like cheese are back with their first album since 2001's BBD. I saw them at Yoshi's San Francisco (RIP SF location) on December 2010 with a live band. It was like I was transported back in time. They did all of their signature dance moves and had a very entertaining live show. Also, Poison, the song that everyone wanted to hear, sounded awesome with the opening snare drum fill played by an actual drummer.
Prior to this album's release, I did watch their video for their lead single, Run. It's a bunch of old guys trying to act and dress young, and to be honest, it makes me sad inside. It's like that old guy in the club trying to be young (which will be me very soon...or maybe already?).
Doug E. Fresh opens up the album with some pretty sweet beatboxing. From this point on however, it delves into mostly forgettable and generic R&B songs. The dudes can still sing, but the songs are just not memorable or catchy enough to make me want to reach for this one again. Excuse me while I go back and listen to Do Me and Poison.
