Yesterday I woke up to the news of Chris Cornell's passing. My first instinct was to think that this couldn't be real, but my Facebook timeline was littered with several pages reporting that he has died. His importance to my musical growth cannot be understated.
If you've been following my last few posts leading up to this race, I am RELIEVED that it is all over. With all the injuries and struggles I've had this season, I was afraid I was going to struggle (even more than usual) to finish this race, or even end up hurting myself.
Here we are, the marathon less than a week away, and I'm NOT READY. My injuries have not healed 100%, and my training has been extremely spotty in the past month. Also, the forecast calls for weather in the 70s-80s AND thunderstorms. I'm in for a world of hurt.
March, my most important training month for Kentucky, was full of ups and (mostly downs). It started off ok, but a 14 miler ended badly with some right ankle pain forcing me to take a week off.
